The Road Trip

 At the start of 2012 Rich had recently passed his bike test and wanted to join us for our 2012 road trip. The suggestions ranged from a trip to the Highlands of Scotland to a Circuit of Wales.

As it was Rich's 1st time with us and we all needed to consider the cost, it was decided to stay in the UK, revisiting the Lake District for 2 nights and Galloway.

 During the trip we discovered 2 roads, that made it straight into our ultimate roads list, who had the best waterproofs, Jon's boots housed the smell of 10 years foot oddur and Rich is prepared to play Russian roulette by weeing up an electric fence!

The Bikes.
My R1 has had the brake pipes replaced. The neutral switch got stuck but I've fixed that, the Blue Flame end can snapped off and I've had a puncture.
Jon's GSXR had the brake pipes replaced and has plans to wash it before the spring.
Col's Fireblade has had new brake pipes, brake pads, wheel bearings and chain and sprockets.
Rich's ZX636 has had a puncture and a electrical problem with the indicators.
Mark with the ZX10r is still adding little shiney bits here and there.

The Fantasy League

We had a mixed bunch of leaders, with Phill, Rich,Ed, Martin in 1st place. Martin went on to win it so can enter 2 teams next year. The top 3 were 1st Martin, 2nd Phill, 3rd Ryan.
Round wins went to Phill x 3, Ed, Matt, Martin x 2, Ryan.

The Survey
The EDSBK survey has been running for 6 weeks and the results are:-

The EDSBK favourite racing series is:-
MotoGP with 46.2% of the votes
Having a few more bikes on the grid has not made that much difference really in the 2012 season, but by the end of the year the gap between the 2 series was getting smaller.

The EDSBK rider of the year is:-
Cal Crutchlow - MotoGP with 64% of the votes

The EDSBK Most wanted:-
Bikes of 2012:- the BMW SS1000rr with 42.3% of the votes

Most desired improvements for your motobike would be:- more economy with 12 % of the votes

some other stats:-

                            46% have done a track day
                            61% have seen 150mph
                            42% ride mostly at the weekend
                            84% acknowledge other riders with a nod  * 
                            73% ride sportsbikes

The 2 highway code questions:-
 Only 29% of the visitors said, If they were following a car that was doing 15 mph, was indicating left and about to turn into a junction where there is another car waiting to pull out, said they would slow down and wait for the car to make the turn, which is the correct answer. Highway code say you must not over take   when approaching a junction (167)

72% of the visitors said when filtering through traffic motorcyclists should take care and keep slow.

People who left comments/feedback asked for a way to contribute to the site or add photos, which is something I can look into.

  One complained about my use of " 's ", another thought the survey had pointless questions but answered them anyway (how does he know what I want the data for?) and a person doesn't like my use of grammar but made numerous mistakes in his own writing! Lol

* They probably make up most of the 16% who didn't say yes to the question about the "nod"

2011

The Road Trip

Early in January last year we were trying to decide on what we would do for our annual road

trip. The suggestions ranged from a trip back to Germany and ride the legendary B500, back to the Nurburgring, over to Ireland to watch the Northwest 200 or the Ulster Grandprix or stay in the UK.

As we all need to consider the costs rather more than the last few years it was decided to stay in the UK, revisiting Scarborough for 2 nights then across to the Lake District for 2 nights to see what roads that area has to offer.

You might think that sounds 2 uninspiring destinations, with little in the way of entertainment for superbikes, well you would be wrong. During the trip we discovered 3 roads, that made it straight into our ultimate roads list, a road that has the steepest climb and sharpest bends that we have ridden, a ferry crossing a lake, done a few laps around the Olivers Mount road race circuit, got soaked in Whitby and we got to eat an ice cream where they filmed Heartbeat!

A686 Penrith to Hartside Cafe, Go there, its a must ride.

   The Bikes.

My R1 had a new battery, I've added a pair of Bobbins incase the bike falls over and I've re-fitted the Blue Flame exhaust as I like the sound better.

Jon has added a pair of bobbins to the GSXR, and plans to wash it before the spring.

Col had to replaced the rear set of smaller indicators with some better ones and bought a clock for the Fireblade.

Mark with the ZX10r is into titanium at the moment, and is adding little shiney bits here and there.

Rich has just past his bike test, bought a ZX636 and wants to get out on it.

The Fantasy League

From race 1 Rich was top of the leaderboard, in a couple of rounds Ryan almost pinched the position, but in the end Rich's only competition turned out to be himself as his 2nd team swapped places and won the 2011 season. Again Rich can enter 2 teams in the 2012 season.

2010 was a pretty good year for us. We went to Germany in August got soaked on the way there and back but while there the weather was very kind to us. We made some new biking mates and found Sliders guest house which we gave 5*  

   My R1 is having some new bits, Jon is cleaning the bits his never seen, Col is still talking of changing his blade for a newer one, Rich is planning to get a bike and Mark is polishing just about everything on his bike.
On the downside my bike has been down the road on its side after a low speed tank slapper avoiding a pot hole, and Cols has fell over twice, unfortunately one was after the embarassing old disk lock endo! Jons sat nav thought it was underwater after the soaking it had on the way to Germany and now will only charge when it feels like it.
The Fantasy league had some close battles over the year, right up until the last race, teams were swapping positions resulting in another Championship going to one of Riches teams again, so he can enter 2 teams again in 2011.
